Bruce Boston’s work ranges from slapstick humor to literary surrealism, with many stops along the way for science fiction, fantasy, and horror. He has published more than forty books and chapbooks, including the novel Stained Glass Rain and the best-of fiction collection Masque of Dreams. He recently received his fourth Bram Stoker Award from the Horror Writers Association, when his 30th collection of poetry, Dark Matters, won the 2010 Superior Achievement in Poetry award. It was Bruce’s fourth Bram Stoker Award in the poetry category.
A signed limited edition of his dystopian novel, The Guardener’s Tale, was a Bram Stoker Award Finalist and a Prometheus Award Nominee. A regular edition is at last in print at a more reasonable price at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and The Genre Mail. There is also an eBook, in ten different formats including Kindle, available at Smashwords, where you can also download a sample excerpt free.
Bruce’s stories and poems have appeared in hundreds of publications, including Asimov’s SF Magazine, Amazing Stories, Weird Tales, Strange Horizons, Realms of Fantasy, Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror, and The Nebula Awards Showcase, and received a number of awards, most notably, a Pushcart Prize, the Bram Stoker Award, the Asimov’s Readers Award, the Rhysling Award, and the Grand Master Award of the Science Fiction Poetry Association. His short story By the Dawn’s Early Light, was nominated for Dzanc Books’ Best of the Web Anthology. In February 2010, two of his speculative poetry collections, Double Visions and North Left of Earth, were nominated for the Horror Writers Association’s Bram Stoker awards for Superior Achievement in Poetry. His poem, The Veracity of Imagination won the 2010 Balticon Poetry Award.
Bruce lives in Ocala, Florida, with his wife, writer-artist Marge Simon, also a Sniplits author. In addition to his solo work, Bruce and Marge often collaborate on poems, short fiction, and cartoons. Other interests include chess, jazz, cinema and table tennis.

Q & A
B.B.: Not an easy question to answer. I enjoy working on poetry, short stories, and novels when the time is there, and it is going well. I guess I’d have to go with novels as my preferred form. Because of the scope of the novel, there is greater room for intense involvement and thus greater satisfaction. And it also seems that with novels, one is more likely to get the satisfaction of reader response.
