CA: Thanks for the question, Tom. I write essays, poems and longer fiction as well as short stories, and I like each for different reasons. Short stories of course aren't as complex as longer works, but in a way they are more challenging because an author has so few words to work with. A short must still have an interesting plot, good character development, dialogue that advances the story, and all that other good stuff. Overall, I guess it depends on my mood!
