Following a short-lived singing and acting career, Denise Dietz flexed her fingers and pounded out her first culinary mystery: Throw Darts at a Cheesecake, inspired by her part-time job as a Weight Watchers lecturer. She now has four books in that series, including Strangle a Loaf of Italian Bread, which was was nominated for a Left Coast Crime "Lefty" Award for most humorous mystery of 2009. Deni hit the bestseller list with Footprints in the Butter, an Ingrid Beaumont Mystery co-starring Hitchcock the Dog. She followed that success with her stand-alone, Fifty Cents for Your Soul, and her "reluctant witch mystery," Eye of Newt. She also writes historical romance novels as Mary Ellen Dennis. Mary Ellen’s Sourcebook/Casablanca paperback edition of The Landlord’s Black-Eyed Daughter, released in August, 2011, was nominated for an RT (Romantic Times) Award.
